I was inspired to make the same recipe from BBC2.
It WAS the milk that was too hot, because I made a second batch and they came out much better. I didn't have peel in mine either but I did love the addition of apple which I was sceptical about.
All in all, yours turned out fab!Lisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07909127401999922232noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-430441346293872555.post-66600777587011662872013-04-01T14:52:23.107+01:002013-04-01T14:52:23.107+01:00Love the buns Mr. CC! The piping looks a lot neater than mine which was all over the place. Mine took ages to rise too, but we didn't have anywhere particularly warm in the house, which probably accounted for it. They got there in the end and tasted fantastic.

Happy Easter both.Choclettehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00173996730095174268noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-430441346293872555.post-15217251635772943942013-03-30T08:11:44.964+00:002013-03-30T08:11:44.964+00:00They look lovely even if they didn't rise as y...They look lovely even if they didn't rise as you wanted them. I love how glossy you got them. WIsh I could eat one, sadly most gluten free scones or buns are like housebricks and I haven't had time to bake my own. Ditto re: rising sweet bread dough like this - takes a lot longer fgor the initial rise and I tend to get bored and get on with it anyway, but then get a good rise once the buns or whatever have been formed. Nigella's cinammon bun mix rises very slowly, and there's no cinammon in the dough so that can't be the only reasonAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11838426651793558151noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-430441346293872555.post-60667289760705168632013-03-30T06:40:57.113+00:002013-03-30T06:40:57.113+00:00Nice job Mr CC. I'm also sure I heard somewhere (Dan Lepard?) that cinnamon specifically inhibits the action of yeast so maybe that's why they took longer to rise.Carolinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13067886984635079539noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-430441346293872555.post-17447398820491819982013-03-29T21:37:11.930+00:002013-03-29T21:37:11.930+00:00Great job mr CC!
